As much as I live for the Summer - the long days, daylight, warmth on my skin, day long competitions, smiles.... I do actually quite like the crisp Winter. I suffer badly with being cold, and I lose sensation in my fingers and toes as soon as I step out the door; very accustomed to this feeling now! I am all for products/clothing/brands which make this time of year that little bit easier for those of us who spend lots of our free time outside, so I thought I would share some of my favourite ones.

This is in no way influenced by anything, or anyone - totally my opinion! I hope you find something that might make your life a little easier.

CALDENE WESTFIELD NEOPRENE WELLIES

HUGE fan of these wellies. I wear them for probably 8 months of the year. If I wear wellies every single day for long periods of time, and ask a lot of them, I don't expect them to last longer than a year/18 months. I buy these time and time again, and haven't find anything else which is 1. better value for money, or 2. as warm. They are fully neoprene lined, roomy enough for 2 pairs of socks and not tight, and I don't find them heavy to walk in.

HORSEWARE RAMBO DRY RUG

I only bought this a couple of weeks ago - and already I know I am going to be using it a lot. Pepsi goes swimming 2 or 3 times a month, and this time of year its difficult to get him dry enough after to put a rug on to go in the field for the day - even with him being fully clipped.

Like many others, I was skeptical of this rug - how does it differ from our Thermatex? It is made of microfibre so is super light-weight, and all the surcingles are elasticated so you can ensure a close fit.

We put it on straight after he comes out the pool like his own swimming towel, and he is completely bone dry by the time we have travelled the 15 minute journey home - INCREDIBLE.

It does take a while to dry - we take it home and hang it on the radiator overnight, but I suppose that shows how much water it soaks up without getting heavy or showing the moisture.

NAF WARMING WASH

Pep is quite a dirty horse - not in the sense of mud or poo stains - he is very scurfy, and even in the Summer when he gets bathed regularly, I always have white marks on my boots after riding from the scurf. Maybe its a sign that I need to use less leg, but we won't go into that now. I saw this product advertised and thought I would give it a try. It smells delicious - Ginger and Clary Sage. I used it as a hot cloth, but can be used as a usual wash as well. It's perfect for winter as you don't need to rinse, so you can use nice warm buckets of water to put it on and don't need to hose it off!

FOXY EQUESTRIAN EAR WARMERS

I don't know many equestrians who haven't heard of, or invested in, a pair of Foxy ear warmers. These are absolute GOLD and I don't know what I would do without them - honestly! I took them out my hat recently to wash and had to ride in the cold without them - I very quickly, that night, bought another pair so I don't have to go through that again!!

FLEECE LINED BREECHES/LEGGINGS

I have only discovered these in the last couple of years. I don't like too much bulk on my legs - so I don't like over chaps or over trousers (except for long cold hacks!!).

I bought some HV POLO fleece lined and waterproof breeches about 2 years ago, and I cant get them through the wash quick enough - must invest in a new pair. As much as I love breeches for riding - I like them to be substantial and love the feeling of a button/zip/belt etc, I have fallen in love with the riding leggings from Chateau Cheval. They are fleece lined and super cosy. I used to wear joggers for those times at the yard when I am not riding but am a TOTAL convert to leggings - no bulk around your ankle, much much warmer, and a sleeker silhouette too!

* I am very lucky to be a brand ambassador for CC and if you fancy spending some money, you can use code SOPHIE10 for 10% off any order.
